Mike Rowe On Hard-Working, Dependable People Who Make A Big Difference

July 12, 2010

Our country – the entire world – is full of such people. Not everybody is chasing glamor and a 4-hour work week. Not everybody is meant to be self-employed. Not everybody is meant to live the way you think they should. Fact is, our world would come to brick wall stop if everybody sat on their butt Tweeting and Facebooking every day. Besides, don’t we have enough folks doing that job? I could name names!

I love Mike Rowe’s work, his humor and his style. I also love the stories he shares with us. His narration on The Deadliest Catch ain’t half bad either! In fact, I’m so fond of him I may just go buy a Ford. That Flex looks pretty sweet. In case you hadn’t noticed, Rowe is Ford’s current pitch man. When you’re hot, you’re hot. And Mike now has a killer line of Hawaiian red dirt items, including shirts, caps and a nifty bag. I’m eyeballing that bag to tote my reading material.

Work may be a dirty word to some folks. I’m rather fond of it – and even more fond of those who engage in it honestly every day. These are the people who are unafraid to do what must be done. They provide value. They provide for us, and their families. I don’t think less of them for it. You shouldn’t either.
