Some years ago I presided over a hockey banquet for my hockey team. I had coached these guys for four years. We had gone without a banquet the entire time. Cramming four seasons into a single banquet proved a bad idea in one regard. It took too stinking long to recap it all. However, at the end of the banquet Mike “Mad Dog” Mania (that’s him in the green shirt) addressed me. Mike is now a fire fighter in real life. It’s nice to see how people grow and develop.

At the conclusion of his speech Mad Dog gave me a hug. I’m not bashful to hug people I care about. Nor do I find it hard to care about people. It was a terrific night. Filled with emotions. Filled with remembering great events…and some not so great.
What does that have to do with the changes happening here? Everything.
Coaching these guys had a profound impact on my life. The guys affected me. They made me better. I hope I returned the favor. I agreed to coach them because helping people is something I gravitate toward. Servant leadership is in my DNA. If Gary Vee has self-promotion in his DNA – and he does – then I have helping others in my DNA. It’s not hard. Or to be dreaded.
Let me explain a few changes I’m setting about to make around here. Thanks for listening! I hope I can do something to help you in the art of being remarkable.
All the best,
